GW audio design is an independent international collective of engineers, developers and designers, with more than 25 years of experience in electronics and product development.
Our background is rooted in professional audio repair, technical diagnostics and studio engineering, disciplines that gave us a practical understanding of how equipment performs, ages and sometimes fails in everyday use.
01 / OUR HERITAGE
The foundations of GW audio design were established through hands-on work with professional audio equipment and the people who depend on it. Repairing mixing consoles, amplifiers, signal processors and other studio and live-sound systems required more than replacing faulty assemblies. Effective troubleshooting meant understanding the complete signal path, power supplies, analogue and digital circuitry, operating conditions and the interactions between components.
Work in recording and performance environments also made the consequences of equipment failure particularly tangible: reliability is essential when a system must operate without interruption.
This experience provided direct insight into recurring faults, component ageing, thermal stress, mechanical wear, difficult-to-service constructions and the practical limits of otherwise impressive technical specifications. It remains an important part of our engineering background.
02 / FROM EXPERIENCE TO DEVELOPMENT
Over time, identifying weaknesses in existing equipment naturally developed into creating better technical solutions. Circuit modifications, custom electronics and practical improvements grew into the design of complete electronic products.
GW audio design expanded from repair and analysis into system architecture, analogue and digital hardware, PCB development, embedded systems, firmware, industrial design and preparation for serial production. That progression connects the experience of diagnosing failures in the field with the decisions made at the drawing board, a perspective we continue to apply across audio and other electronic products.
03 / ABOUT THE FOUNDER

Gerard is the founding owner of GW audio design and a multidisciplinary engineer specialising in the design, development and industrialisation of advanced electronic products. His career began with a passion for electronics and evolved through the music industry as a repair technician and studio sound engineer, where he developed custom electronic solutions for performing artists while gaining extensive expertise in high-performance audio systems.
He later established GW audio design to combine engineering expertise with a structured product development methodology. His work now spans complete product development, from concept and system architecture to hardware, firmware, industrial design and production preparation. He believes successful products result from the careful integration of engineering, manufacturability and industrial design.
With more than 25 years of experience, he has contributed to high-end development projects across multiple industries. His work combines systems thinking with engineering precision, underpinned by a strong focus on reliability, manufacturability, and long-term product sustainability. The result is robust, production-ready solutions that create lasting value.
04 / CONNECTED EXPERTISE
As our assignments became more multidisciplinary, GW audio design developed into a collective of independent specialists with complementary expertise. Since 2011, we have collaborated remotely with professionals across Europe, Asia and Oceania.
Today, this network brings together electronics engineering, software and firmware development, product design and production knowledge according to the needs of each assignment. The people behind the work remain experienced practitioners, with a shared commitment to technical substance and durable results.

05 / PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITY
Protecting confidential technical information is an essential part of working with independent specialists and client-owned innovation.
Confidentiality, ownership and transfer of project-specific intellectual property are defined contractually, while pre-existing tools, frameworks and technical know-how remain with their respective owners.
We establish the applicable arrangements for information access, permitted use, project deliverables and ownership before sensitive engineering work is shared across the team.
Project-specific intellectual property is managed under the applicable contractual and legal framework. Before confidential technical information is exchanged, a non-disclosure agreement is established, with ownership, permitted use, access rights and transfer conditions clearly defined for each project and participating specialist.
For EU-restricted projects, access to project information is limited to authorised EU-based specialists and managed through controlled documentation and version-control systems. Project data is stored on secure EU-hosted servers, thereby supporting compliance with applicable European data-protection requirements.
Upon completion, all agreed source files, technical documentation and project deliverables are transferred to the client in accordance with the contract. Ownership of project-specific intellectual property is assigned as agreed, while pre-existing intellectual property, tools, frameworks and know-how remain with their respective owners at every stage.

In close collaboration with our certification partners and certified tester, NMi Testlab GmbH, we can guide you through the process of obtaining the necessary international product certifications. These certifications cover electrical, environmental, chemical, disposal and EMC regulations for the global market. This ensures that your product is fully prepared for distribution and sale worldwide.
